Our office can create CEREC crowns using computer-aided design and manufacturing. During your appointment, Dr. Titus will use a small camera to take digital impressions of your mouth. The camera is small enough to fit into your mouth easily to minimize discomfort. Once the impressions are complete, the computer software will design a digital model using the digital images. Then your crown will be milled from high-quality ceramic for a long-lasting restoration within a matter of minutes.
Once the crown is complete, Dr. Titus will bond it in place and polish it for a natural look and feel that will blend in with the rest of your teeth. No need for a follow-up appointment or an uncomfortable temporary crown. Unlike metal crowns, an all-ceramic crown is made from biocompatible materials that won’t cause irritation or allergic reactions.
Typically, a CEREC crown costs about the same as a traditional crown. The software that designs them is very accurate, so they rarely require the adjustments that often come with traditional crowns. With proper dental hygiene, CEREC dental crowns will last just as long as a traditional crown. That means it can be up to 15 years or more before you need a replacement.
