How Dental Bonding Can Close That Gap Between Your Front Teeth

If you have always wondered how to conceal that gap between your front teeth that does not require expensive orthodontic work, you will be happy to hear that dental bonding will do the trick! Bonding is a minimally invasive dental treatment aimed at concealing imperfections in your smile, such as a gap, so that you can achieve a more aesthetically perfect smile. Patients in the Middletown, Indiana, area have achieved satisfactory results through dental bonding by Dr. Jonathan Titus and the team at Titus Dentistry.

About Dental Bonding

Dental bonding is a straightforward and simple procedure that utilizes a composite resin material to correct imperfections in a patient’s smile. Bonding can conceal or help fix issues that include chipped, cracked, discolored, or misshapen teeth. In addition, your dentist can also conceal minor gaps in your smile. The dental bonding procedure is completed within a single visit, typically within 30 minutes to an hour. It’s a versatile and customizable process, and once completed, you will be able to continue with your daily routine.

Are You a Candidate?

To begin with, your dentist will examine your teeth to determine if you are a good candidate for dental bonding. When it comes to gaps, minor ones are easily corrected, but larger gaps may require other dental solutions such as aligner trays. If you have alignment issues in multiple teeth, you may then be a less than ideal candidate. There are many other feasible orthodontic options for situations such as these.

Bonding Process

Once you are approved for the bonding procedure, your teeth will need to be prepared. The tooth’s front surface will need to be slightly etched to apply a conditioning liquid, which provides a suitable surface for the bonding material to adhere to. From there, the bonding material will be prepared to match the color of your natural tooth. This putty-like substance is then applied to your tooth and shaped to fill the gap. Once hardened, the bonding material will be polished to have the same shine as a natural tooth.
