Restorative dentistry in Indianapolis, IN – from complex to straightforward cases

First and foremost, Titus Dentistry is focused on maintaining oral health. Dr. Jonathan W. Titus works with patients of all ages to preserve their natural teeth. Sometimes, when the tooth structure has been damaged,  teeth must be restored to their healthy appearance and function. We have many options for tooth replacement also. If you need to resolve oral conditions that affect the health of your teeth, gums, and other structures, restorative dentistry at our Indianapolis, IN area office may be in order. A Dawson Academy-trained dentist, Dr. Titus is well versed in complex restorations and procedures. So, you know your health and safety are in exceptional hands, regardless of your needs.

Dental restorations

Restorations generally refer to dental materials that are used to rebuild a portion of a damaged tooth. These options include fillings, inlays, onlays (or partial crowns), and full-coverage crowns. Dental composite bonding and porcelain veneers also replace enamel; however, these procedures are primarily used to improve smile aesthetics. For instance, direct veneers (bonding) and indirect veneers (porcelain veneers) are placed on prepared tooth surfaces to disguise imperfections, such as gaps between teeth and chipped enamel.

Dental bridges and dentures also restore the appearance, function, and health of your teeth; however, these options replace the entire portion of the tooth that is seen above the gum line (the crown). Depending on the type of bridge or denture used to reconstruct your smile, we may also replace the portion of the tooth in the jawbone: the tooth root. Implant-retained bridges and dentures restore the crown and the root. So, the overlying teeth are stabilized or “rooted” in the jaw.

Notably, restorations such as crowns may be made in-house while you wait. We use the CEREC system to design, fabricate, and refine crowns in a single visit.

Other types of restorations

Titus Dentistry may also restore the health of the gums that support and protect your teeth. Additionally, sophisticated and non-invasive treatments are available to restore the relationship between your upper or lower teeth (your “bite”) and other oral structures. For instance, oral appliances such as aligners and bite splints correct crowding and other imbalances to ease the pressure placed on the jaw joints and interrelated tissues.

Customized care

There is no single definition of “complex restorative dentistry.” Your treatment starts with an evaluation by Dr. Titus. He has the technologies and advanced knowledge of the latest treatment options and techniques to resolve dental, periodontal (gum), and other oral problems. Now, that may mean replacing an entire arch, of the upper or lower jaw of teeth. Or it could be an approach as straightforward as filling a cavity or “saving” a badly damaged tooth with a durable crown. Contact us today to schedule your appointment at the Middletown office.
