Dr. Titus uses a type of dental material known as composite resin, as well as dental porcelain, to reshape and resize teeth, as well as to close gaps and correct other cosmetic concerns. Dental bonding involves placing composite resin so, that it is color-matched to blend in with the surrounding teeth. The surfaces of the teeth to be treated are also prepared, or slightly abraded. By “roughening” the tooth’s surface, the resin will bond more securely to the natural tooth structure. Dr. Titus’s artistry shines, as he applies and shapes the pliable resin to the front surfaces of the teeth. After the gaps are closed or the chips are covered up, the resin is bonded or hardened with a curing light.

Veneers may be used to correct many of the same cosmetic imperfections that are treated with dental bonding. However, they are made from dental ceramics, usually porcelain. The porcelain is perfectly matched to the color of your natural teeth. Preparation involves removing an ultra-thin layer of natural enamel, about the thickness of a contact lens or fingernail. By reducing the size of the tooth, the veneer fits precisely over the natural tooth surface without projecting too much. Once the veneer is made to your specifications, it is cemented into place.
