Implants share the same powerful foundation as your natural teeth: your jawbone. If implants are right for you, Dr. Titus will begin with a thorough examination of the missing or damaged tooth. Using x-rays and 3D digital imaging, he will map out the affected area, noting any abnormalities or possible complications. After that, the installation of the implant occurs in two stages. At for your first appointment, your gums will be numbed with an anesthetic, and a small incision will be made. Dr. Titus will use that incision to make a small hole in your jaw. He will then insert a small, biocompatible titanium rod into that hole. He will prep the area and cover it with a temporary crown. Over several weeks, the titanium rod will be naturally incorporated into your jaw, providing your implant with the same powerful foundation as your natural teeth. Once the rod is in place and the incision has healed, Dr. Titus will take an impression of the area. The impression is then sent to the lab, and your final crown is fabricated from tooth-color materials. You will return to Dr. Titus one final time, for the installation of your crown. This crown can last for many years, if cared for as you care for your natural teeth, with routine brushing, flossing, and cleanings with Dr. Titus.
