• Your partial denture replaces missing teeth and distributes chewing forces across remaining teeth. Initial tightness or pressure on supporting teeth is expected.
  • Insert and remove the partial using clasps and metal components—not by biting into place. For flexible partials, avoid twisting forces; the base can distort if handled improperly.
  • Eat soft foods initially and progress to harder foods as comfort improves.
  • Chew on both sides of the mouth to stabilize the prosthesis. Avoid sticky foods that may dislodge the partial.
  • Clean after every meal. Brush your partial denture with water and a soft brush. If you’d like to soak in a cleaning tablet solution, make sure to use tablets made for retainers for flexible partial material.
  • Brush natural teeth thoroughly, especially around clasp areas where plaque collects more readily.
  • If the partial causes sore spots, schedule an adjustment. Do not attempt to bend clasps at home.
  • If metal clasps feel loose over time, adjustments can restore retention. Do not ignore looseness; it affects stability and tooth health.
  • Attend regular dental exams. Supporting teeth require monitoring for caries and periodontal health. Please bring your partial denture to your cleaning appointments.
