• This appliance positions the lower jaw forward during sleep to improve airway patency. Expect muscle or joint soreness for several nights as you adjust. This typically decreases with consistent use.
  • Begin with shorter wear periods and gradually increase them until you can wear the appliance continuously throughout the night. If joint clicking or sharp pain occurs, contact the office.
  • Use the morning repositioning device (if provided) each day to restore the normal bite. Morning bite changes are normal due to overnight jaw positioning. Failure to use the repositioner can lead to temporary occlusal shifts.
  • Clean the appliance daily with mild soap and cool water. Do not use hot water, as nylon materials warp at elevated temperatures. Let the appliance air dry before storing.
  • Avoid chewing with the appliance in place. Do not attempt to adjust the appliance yourself.
  • If the appliance feels excessively tight or becomes loose, schedule an evaluation to ensure proper fit. If screws or arms loosen, stop use and call for adjustment.
  • Follow sleep study or physician recommendations for monitoring your condition. This appliance is part of a medical treatment plan; ongoing evaluation ensures effectiveness.
  • Call if persistent jaw pain, headaches, or bite changes occur despite use of the morning repositioner.
