Dental Implant Restoration Delivery – Post-Op Instructions

- After integration, an implant crown or restoration is attached to the implant. Mild pressure sensitivity is normal as the tissues adjust to the new environment.
- Test your bite once numbness resolves. Implant restorations should feel even and stable. If the bite feels high or uncomfortable, call for an adjustment. Bite harmony is critical to long-term implant stability.
- Avoid chewing on hard substances (such as ice, hard nuts, or hard candy) that directly contact the implant crown. Implants lack the natural shock absorption of periodontal ligaments, and concentrated forces may damage their components.
- Brush and floss normally. Use interdental brushes or a water flosser around the implant to reduce plaque load. Clean under any prosthetic contours as instructed.
- If your crown is screw-retained, you may see a small filling covering the access channel. This is normal.
- If your crown is cement-retained, you may experience slight gum tenderness. If the tissue feels irritated or swollen after two days, call the office to rule out residual cement.
- If a night guard is recommended, wear it consistently to prevent overload.
- Attend routine recall visits. Implants require professional monitoring of bone levels, occlusion, and soft tissue health to ensure optimal function and longevity. Call if you experience mobility issues, unusual pressure, or persistent discomfort.
